Lady shares her awkward first date experience after her talking stage demanded she pay for her meal
One morning, my talking stage called me. He said, “Hey Princess, I was just thinking about you. I’d like to take you out on a date.”
Note that he called me first.. I didn’t ask him. I agreed, checked my schedule, and later called him back to say I would be free by 6 p.m.
When I arrived, everything went well. We talked, laughed, and had a really good conversation. The vibe was nice.
After some time, we ordered food and ate. Everything still seemed normal. When it was time to leave, I told him, “It’s getting late. I need to head home.”
He looked at me and asked, “Going where?” I was confused and replied, “I don’t understand.” He then said, “No, you can’t just go home like that. Didn’t you see what I bought for you?”
At that point, the bill had not even been paid. He suggested we go to his place and spend the night. When I asked why, he said he expected us to go back to his house together after the date.
I told him I couldn’t do that. Immediately, he became upset. He said if I wasn’t going home with him, then I should pay for my own food and also refund him the transport fare he spent to take me out. He claimed I should appreciate him for everything he had done.
I was shocked. I reminded him that I never asked him to take me out on a date. I refused to refund the money.. not because I didn’t have it, but because I shouldn’t have to pay for something I didn’t request.

He called the waiter and asked for separate bills, saying I would pay for my meal while he paid for his. At that moment, I stood up and told him that if he couldn’t pay the bill, he should wash plates in the restaurant to settle it.
I left, took a keke to the next bus stop, and booked a ride home because it was already late. Afterwards, he started bombarding me with insults.
Nigerian men, you really need to do better.
