Castile told CNN that the prosecution had presented enough evidence to secure a prove him guilty. She had also been praying for the verdict for some weeks.

Castile said earlier this month that she had almost no faith in the criminal justice system and that watching the Chauvin trial was indeed “re-traumatizing.”

She said defense attorneys charged her son saying he had marijuana in his system the same way attorneys said Floyd died of a drug overdose. The police officer charged in Philando Castile’s death was released in 2017.

She added that Chauvin conviction gave hope to the Black people. She said in her own words..

“If a person is found guilty then that would give the next person pause to be so aggressive in a manner that it causes great bodily harm or death,” Castile said. “It would give them pause to proceed so aggressively.”
