I can now boldly post my first degree for you all to see because I outdid myself in my second degree.
From a Second Class Lower in my specialty (Library and Information Science) to a First Class Honors graduate in something completely new — Nursing.

Before you come for me, our grading system is over 4.0, not 5.0 like Nigeria’s.
I honestly thought I was not intelligent.
That belief followed me for years until I started studying Nursing with little to no science background.
My first semester in Year One was a struggle.
I battled with some courses, met amazing people who encouraged me, and practically lived in the library. I studied day and night, doing everything possible not to fail.
When the result came out, I had 3.09/4.0.
I was so excited.
Omo, see me that thought I didn’t know anything, carrying an Honors GPA!
That result changed my mindset completely.
It made me realize that maybe I was capable of more than I had ever given myself credit for.
I picked up my books and read like never before.
The next semester, I got 3.51/4.0.
High Honors.
My school fees were reduced.
That was all the motivation I needed.
I told myself, “If you can do this, then you can do even better.”
And I did.
Second Year, First Semester:
3.84/4.0
I was awarded a scholarship.
From that point, I stopped paying school fees and only paid hostel fees.
Second Year, Second Semester:
3.50/4.0
It was lower than the previous semester, but I was still grateful.
My CGPA was 3.48 and I desperately wanted to cross 3.50 so I could graduate with First Class Honors.
Then came my best semesters yet:
3.84/4.0
4.00/4.0
My CGPA jumped to 3.62.

Omo, I was so happy.
Those were my strongest semesters and I was still enjoying my scholarship.
Then life happened.
Final year.
I lost my mom in the middle of exams.
At the same time, I was dealing with pregnancy, grief, and the pressure of finishing Nursing school.
I remember praying:
“God, please just let me maintain this CGPA.”
When the first semester result came out, I got 3.63.
My CGPA remained 3.62.
I was relieved.
Then childbirth came.
I was nervous.
I was exhausted.
I was scared.
I wrote in my journal:
“God, I need 3.62. Please help me.”
When the final result came out…
I got 3.84.
And my final CGPA was 3.65/4.0.
The funny thing is that 3.09 was the lowest GPA I would ever have throughout Nursing school.
From that moment on, I never dropped below High Honors (First Class) again.
The part many people don’t know is that I wasn’t just a student.
I was doing cleaning jobs to support myself, creating content consistently, trying to build a future, and still showing up for classes, assignments, clinicals, and exams.
There were days I was exhausted.
Days I wanted to sleep instead of study.
Days I questioned whether I could keep going.
But somehow, I always found a way to get back to my books and keep pushing.
Looking back now, I honestly don’t know how I did it all, but I thank God I never gave up.
What started as a student simply trying not to fail became a journey of constantly pushing myself beyond my own expectations.
Every semester after that, I kept proving to myself that I was capable of much more than I had ever believed.
So today, this post is not really about grades.
It is about resilience.
It is about refusing to let your past define your future.
It is about understanding that where you start does not determine where you finish.
From a Second Class Lower graduate…
To a First Class Honors BSN graduate.
Omo, if I can do it, then you can too.
When they say hard work pays, I am evidence.
And above all, God did. ❤️
So please am not just your regular nurse I am
Your nurse with a high honors degree is that clear ?
