The military admits to the shoot-outs in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Army has cleared  the air as regards the ongoing shout-outs and bombing on going in the Essien Udim local Government.

The on going crisis in Akwa Ibom, Essien Udim Local Government, reports has it that many armed men including the police, army and civil defence were killed while several suffered bullets wounds, their vehicle burnt by unknown elements when the mobilised to a certain community to dislodge serial killers who have severally attacked armed personnel.

The army spokesman said, “The general security situation in Akwa Ibom state has been very peaceful until recently when the security situation around Essien Udim Local Government Area of the State became tensed occasioned by activities of some hoodlums and criminal elements. The miscreants exploited various avenues to acquire weapons to perpetrate their heinous crimes. In the past few weeks, the group has attacked various security agencies which resulted in the loss of lives and carting away of weapons.”

“The last incident led to the killing of some policemen, including a CSP. The hoodlums continued to terrorise law abiding citizens through extortions and infringement on their rights.”
The Nigerian army has finally broken silence on the airstrike that recently took place in Akwa Ibom community, according to a recent report by Saharareporters, the Nigerian military has revealed the reason why they conducted the air strike in the state.

According to a recent report, Nigerian army has confirmed that they are the one who carried out airstrikes in some Communities of the Usiam Udim local government area or akwa ibom state. They explained that its troops in collaboration with air components launch an airstrike on the community to fish out the unknown gunmen, who have been launching coordinated attacks on security offices in various parts of the South Eastern part of Nigeria.

“Normalcy is gradually being restored in the area while the Police personnel have since assumed full control and carrying out normal duties. Members of the public are advised not to panic but to remain calm and continue to support the security agencies to further consolidate on the successes recorded so far.”
