According to statements from police, the operation uncovered allegations of newborn trafficking and falsified death reports. Authorities claim mothers were told their babies had died, while the infants were allegedly trafficked. Police also say an embalmed infant’s body was found in the Chief Medical Director’s office. Dr. Elizabeth Obot, the Chief Medical Director, was detained during the raid. In preliminary statements to investigators, she reportedly admitted to operating without a license and to involvement in the schemes.
