MIKEL CALLS FOR TURKISH SUPER LIG TO BE CALLED OFF

Former Chelsea Midfielder, John obi Mikel now on the books of Turkish side Trabzonspor has called on the Turkish FA to follow other nations and postpone the 2019/2020 season dur to the global pandemic COVID-19.

Leading European league such as Premier league, LA Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1and Eredivise have all canceled all club activities till later dates and the Nigerian is calling for the authorities behind the Turkish super Lig to do likewise.

The Turkish Lig Is scheduled to hold matches this weekend with Mike’s Trabzonspor billed to take on fellow title hopefuls Istanbul basaksehir on sunday. No plans to postpone the matches have been made with stadiums still allowing fans to attend matches.

Mikel admits to feeling uncomfortable at being forced to take the field against his will, with it the opinion of the 32-year-old midfielder that the 2019-20 campaign should be brought to a premature conclusion.

He has posted on social media: “There is more to life than football.
“I do not feel comfortable and don’t want to play football in this situation.
“Everyone should be home with their families and loved ones in this critical time.
“Season should be cancelled as the world is facing such turbulent times.”
