- President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the appointment of DIG Usman Alkali Baba as the Acting Inspector General of police.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi disclosed the president’s directive this afternoon, while addressing the State House Press Corps in Abuja.
Usman Alkali Baba replaces Mohammed Abubakar Adamu whose tenure was recently extended.
Recall that Buhari had on the 4th of February, extended the tenure of Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector General of Police for three months after he attained retirement age.
This replacement is coming shortly after the IGP Mohammed Adamu arrived the Imo state police command and the Owerri Correctional Service to inspect the extent of damage at the state command following the attack by unknown gunmen on Monday.
