President Muhammadu Buhari will travel to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, for a two-day visit (UAE).

While in Abu Dhabi, the President will meet with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to express his condolences on the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the former president of Abu Dhabi.

The President “will also convey his congratulations to the incoming president, restoring connections of longstanding friendship between Nigeria and the UAE,” according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.

In a previous congratulatory statement to the UAE leader, President Buhari underlined Nigeria’s warm ties with the country, saying that the two countries’ collaboration had aided Nigeria in tracking down illegal assets and tracing terrorist finances.

Buhari “looks forward to a bigger and stronger relationship for peace, stability, and prosperity for both countries” under the new government, according to the statement.

Buhari will be accompanied by Amb. Zubairu Dada, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Mohammed Bello, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, and Senator Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation.

National Security Adviser Maj. Gen. Mohammed Monguno (rtd) and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar are also part of his entourage.

The President is expected back in the country on Saturday.
