What do you think?, Nigeria might have high chances to Defeat Egypt After 32 years following the rate of players joing our squad this AFCON 2021.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn alongside the Pharaohs of Egypt in the African Nations Cup tournament which starts from January 9th – 6th February 2022, according to a post from Norband Bayl,

The Eagles are drawn in Group D alongside Guinee Bissau and Sudan. A relatively easy group on paper but not really very easy if you look at their history. The major talking point is their game against Egypt.

Although both teams haven’t met quite often, the Egyptians in most recent times have had the upper hand. They defeated us in the 2010 AFCON 3-1, stopping them from making it to the AFCON after a 1-1 and 1-0 scoreline in 2017.

The last time the Eagles defeated Egypt in a competitive game was in 1990 when they were 1-0, winners. Since then, they’ve met 8 times and the Eagles have managed just two victories with the last being a friendly match in 2019. In fact, Egypt inflicted one of our heaviest footballing defeats to Nigeria in the AFCON when they pummelled the Eagles 6-3 in 1963.

This is not to say we have a completely poor record against them as we have played them 18 times, won 8, drawn 5, and lost 5.

Do you think the Eagles can erase this recent poor form against a Mo Salah led Egypt?
