Nigerian Afrobeats singer Kizz Daniel has revealed the personal reason behind his recent break from music, disclosing that he stepped away from his career following the death of his mother.
The singer, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, made the revelation on Friday while responding to a fan on X who assumed that his absence was connected to work on a new album.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, wrote: “I guess album really made you busy you had to pause for a while.”
Kizz Daniel clarified that his decision to take a break had nothing to do with an album.
“I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year,” the singer replied.

The disclosure gives more context to the singer’s reduced music activity in 2026.
Kizz Daniel explained that he had to step back after losing his mother earlier in the year. He also indicated that, despite the pain of the loss, he has chosen to continue moving forward for the sake of the rest of his family.
