‘I’m now a minister of God’ – Actress Jumoke Odetola announces
Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has announced that she is entering a new spiritual season, revealing that she is now a minister and preacher of the gospel.
The Yoruba actress made the announcement in a series of posts on social media after her recent activities and posts reportedly raised concerns among some of her friends, family members and colleagues.
Addressing the concerns, Odetola expressed appreciation to those who reached out to check on her, assuring them that there was nothing wrong with her.
She wrote that although “something is going on” in her life, it should not be interpreted as a sign that she was facing a problem.
According to the actress, she is entering a “new season with God” and has accepted what she described as a call to preach the gospel.
“I am now a minister of God. I am entering a new season with God. I am now a preacher of the gospel.”
Odetola explained that she had initially considered keeping the development private but later decided to make it public.
She said she could hardly keep a preaching ministry private, especially if people could eventually encounter her preaching publicly.
“I have been contemplating if I should be private about it. But how can I be private about preaching the gospel when you could just see me on your street with my bell preaching the gospel?” she said.
The actress added that she wanted to make the announcement herself rather than have someone record her preaching and share it online.
Odetola also appealed to her fans, colleagues and loved ones to support her with prayers as she begins the new chapter.
“I need all the prayers in this new season,” she said, adding that when God compels a person, they may delay, but they cannot escape the call.
The announcement has attracted reactions from fans and followers, with many congratulating the actress and wishing her strength as she begins her new spiritual journey.
Odetola is known for her work in both Yoruba and English-language Nollywood productions. Her announcement adds her name to a growing number of Nigerian entertainment personalities who have publicly spoken about their Christian faith and involvement in ministry.
For now, Odetola has not announced a separate ministry organisation or detailed programme of activities. Her public announcement centres on her personal calling to become a minister and preacher of the gospel.
