On Friday, February 17, several Ogun state residents protested in the streets about the continued shortage of Naira notes. The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was blocked at the Mowe end by the demonstrators, who were unable to conceal their annoyance.
Also, the rioters lit bonfires on the roadway, which significantly slowed down traffic. Drivers who typically use the road, such as tourists and commercial buses, were forced to go the other way.
