Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers, has spoken about Nigeria and the Super Eagles performance in the first Group D game against Egypt in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 in their first game and look all set to beat Sudan in their second game on Saturday.

Rodgers has two Nigerians, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi in his Leicester City team and is monitoring the AFCON proceedings in Cameroon.

Iheanacho scored the only goal of the game, firing in a fine volley in the 30th minute and Rodgers was generally pleased with the display of the Super Eagles.

Addressing his press conference on Thursday the Northern Irishman was asked how he felt about Iheanacho’s goal and he said,: “It was a brilliant strike.

“I thought Nigeria looked really good, looked really structured in the game, good organization and you can see the players of quality they have in the team.

“Kelechi has proven over the last twelve to eighteen months he can score goals. Great spin and finish, I’m delighted for him.
