Ahmed Musa, the Captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has set a new record for the most Nigerian international caps. He achieved this feat during Nigeria’s second leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau on Monday, March 27, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Nigeria at the Estadio 24 de Setembro.
Musa, who made his debut with the Eagles in 2010 and was a member of the team that won the 2013 Nations Cup, has now accumulated 108 caps following Monday’s match, surpassing the previous record holder for Nigeria. Notably, he has matched the 108 caps held by prominent international footballers such as Tim Cahill of England, Jurgen Klinsmann of Germany, and France’s Zinedine Zidane, while surpassing Patrick Vieira’s 107 caps for France and Frank Lampard’s 106 caps for England.
In addition to this incredible achievement, the Nigerian forward has also scored 16 goals for the national team since his debut, and he holds the record for Nigeria’s highest scorer in the World Cup with four goals.
