Two key players will be missing in action for Chelsea in their highly anticipated Premier League fixture against Liverpool scheduled for October 2024.
With the international break on the horizon, Chelsea have suffered the loss of two key players ahead of their upcoming fixture against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella are set to miss the clash against Liverpool after being suspended following the clash against Nottingham Forest this past weekend.
Why was Fofana and Cucurella suspended?
The two Chelsea defenders were each shown a yellow card on Sunday, as while Cucurella was booked for a shoulder badge, Fofana was booked for a cynical late challenge on a Nottingham Forest player.
Both defenders have been booked a total of five times so far this season, thus leading to a one match suspension ahead of the game against Liverpool on the October, 20, 2024. This game would be the first game this season that both defenders would be absent.
On the plus side, the Blues has a very robust team to pick replacements from in the absence of both defenders, however, fans are worried that the replacements might not be as great as Fofana and Cucurella.
So far this season, Chelsea has kept two clean sheets. With both shutouts over the course of seven games, goalie Robert Sánchez has kept Chelsea in the middle of the pack in terms of defensive performance thus far this season.
Keeping a clean sheet has been more difficult for the squad due to its uneven defensive play and inability to field a strong backline amid injuries and suspensions.
