Rihanna’s Team clears the air on Shaggy’s angst

It is no longer news that Rihanna is working tirelessly on her long-awaited ninth album. People however were with expectations that the singer would be dropping the album before the end of last year as she once hinted on her Social media page.
Recently the sensational Singer, Orville Richard Burrell also known as Shaggy revealed that Rihanna had asked him to audition to feature in her album. It is somewhat hard to believe as Shaggy’s skill and talent is widely appreciated and his music, everywhere.

The Jamaican star has however turned down Rihanna’s invitation on the grounds that she asked him to audition.
In a recent interview with the Daily Star, he admitted to being approached by Rihanna’s team for the project. He also added: “There’s a lot of great people involved, but for me, I didn’t need to audition to be on the record. I’ll leave that to younger guys. But from what I hear, it should be good.”

‘“It’s healthy competition,” he continued, “Dancehall is in a good place but we need as many people to do this art form as possible. When it crosses over and becomes popular with artists from other genres and other cultures, that can only be good.”

Rihanna’s team has however sent out a statement to attest that Shaggy could have possibly misrepresented the situation. The team claims that it was Shaggy that first approached her about contributing to the album. Rihanna in her response him said that the album is nearly completed but since he had indicated interest, he should submit some samples so as to enable them see if it was akin to what they already had. And so, it was with this that Shaggy got offended and declined.

Rihanna is yet to issue out a personal statement on the issue, nor give any information about the album. There’s however been a wide speculation or preferably, a rumour citing hat the album will be heavily influenced by reggae and dancehall.

It’s more than a month since the Barbadian singer assured fans of the coming album.
