Former Scotland international Ally McCoist believes Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku’s lack of pace is an issue in Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge for a second term after a club-record £97.5 million move from Inter Milan last summer.
However, things have not gone as planned, with Lukaku struggling for consistency and scoring only eight Premier League goals so far this season.
“I think he (Tuchel) has larger problems on the other end,” McCoist told talkSPORT. His defense has been completely demolished. (Andreas) Christensen and (Antonio) Rudiger are out.
So, I am not going to say it is a rebuilding job, but he is going to have to restructure his defence totally.
“Lukaku’s obviously another problem in that area of the park. He looks like he’s slightly off it, pace-wise. At that level, you can’t afford to be because you will get caught out.”
