Many Missing As Boat Capsizes In Bayelsa

On Thursday, April 6, 2023, a boat carrying passengers and goods from Yenagoa to Okpoama in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State capsized, resulting in numerous people being reported missing. The unfortunate incident occurred at Okoroma River in Nembe local government area of the state. As per reports from Daily Trust, parents who were on board the boat have been frantically searching for their children who are missing. The exact number of casualties is currently unknown as rescue efforts are still underway. The Chairman of the Maritime Union Workers in Bayelsa State, Mr. Ipigansi Ogoniba, confirmed the incident to the publication and informed that a rescue team has been dispatched to the location.
