Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has explained why he dropped Bruno Fernandes from the Red Devils’ Premier League starting XI against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Rangnick also revealed why he included Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford in his side’s starting XI against Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Recall that Fernandes started Man United’s Premier League derby defeat against Manchester City last weekend, while Rashford came on as a substitute and Ronaldo was not included in the match-day squad.
Speaking before Man United’s kick-off against Tottenham, Rangnick told MUTV that Fernandes was ill, while.
Rangnick said “Bruno got ill yesterday, he couldn’t train and he cannot play, hopefully, he’ll be back for Tuesday but today he is out.”
Explaining his decision to include Ronaldo and Rashford, the German added: “We wanted to play with three offensive players, so that’s why I decided to play Cristiano and Marcus at the same time.”
