Unknown gunmen detonated a bomb in the Oguta High Court in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday, February 12.
According to accounts, the shooters targeted the courthouse at around 11.30 p.m. The attack completely destroyed the Magistrate’s court registry, the appeal court record office, the file room, the secretary to the high court judge’s office, the high court bailiff’s office, and the high court judge’s chamber.
Ofili Ijioma, the Oguta LGA’s only administrator, confirmed the event and stated that security personnel had been informed of the arson. This attack occurs just days after unidentified shooters killed Nnaemeka Ugboma, the chief judge of the Ejemekwuru traditional court, when she presided over a judicial proceeding.
On this development, the state police leadership has not yet made any comments.
