Combating Covid-19 with 5G

Deloitte’s white paper has repeatedly confirmed beyond measures that 5G can enhance the effectiveness of the pandemic prevention and treatment therebye driving the digital transformation of healthcare systems in response to Public emergencies which includes the current COVID-19 virus pendemic .

The white paper was titled “Combating COVID-19 WITH 5G : OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEMS” , it was produced in joint collaboration with Huawei .

During the covid-19 outbreak in Chinese nations , WUHAN in particular , Telecommunications operators collaboratef with Huawei to set up a Specific 5G special network solely for this purpose of COVID-19 treatment hospitals . The paper analyses pure samples of COVID-19 control and treatment measures in CHINA and identified challenges that face epidermic management in terms of monitoring , treatment and Quarrrantine measures.

With all its finding , the White paper noted that the flow of communications and data exchange has been purely essential in screening for infected individuals and there bye adding control measures to the global outbreak , furthermore , the thermal imaging , continous remote monitoring and diagnosis during patient transfer processes .

The white paper research on COVID-19 cure also highlighter the essential need to build and upgrade public health emergency response mechanisms , through which government can make right decisions and allocate their resources effectively in any nation which has suffered the effect of the virus .

In this sense , 5G can promote collaboration by Enabling connectivity , maintaining effective communications among hospitals and RN a king medical data and more information sharing between hospitals and Research institute which are scientifically inclined especially” in the increases in data volume and mounting demand for remote and HD-VIDEO based treatment ” scenario .

In addition , the above report indicates that the success of 5g application in the health domain could inspire new models which are business models and other sectors . it finds that as a result of these features including high-speed connection, low latency , high reliability , the health care system has benefited from improved response times , patient monitoring , data analytics , resource allocation and remote collaboration . it sets examples for digitalised , data-driven and Cloud-based innovations .

Nigeria is the first country in west Africa that has carried out 5G trials ,specifically speaking , MTN NIGERia demoed 5g network in November 2019. Which took place in Abuja and Lagos state respectively with the hope of launching the network nationwide .

The Global system for Mobile communications association (GSMA) has predicted that seven African countries will have commercial 5G services by 2025 . it’s expected to account for only three percent of total connections on mobile which covers (14% globally).

Rob shuter who is the CEO of MTN group said many countrirs are not ready for the fifth-generation network but has said 3G is more relevant for now in most markets
