An appellate court has confirmed that Biodun Oyebanji of the ruling All Progressives Party, APC, won the governorship election in the state of Ekiti on June 18.
Segun Oni, the Social Democratic Party’s nominee, alleged that anomalies marred Oyebanji’s victory. Additionally, he said that it was improper for the Mai Mala Buni-led APC leadership to have oversaw the primary that resulted in Oyebanji’s selection as the governorship candidate.
Oni added that the ticket that brought in Monisade Afuye as Ekiti deputy governor should be disqualified over an alleged presentation of fake WAEC results to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A three-member panel of the court on Tuesday, February 21, however struck out the appeal for lacking merit.
