Following a violent demonstration against the lack of Naira notes today, February 15, in Benin city, Edo state, at least three people are thought dead.
The demonstrators made an attempt to break into the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) State branch, which is situated on Akpakpava Street, a busy commercial thoroughfare in Benin City and home to the majority of commercial banks. After that, they targeted a few nearby commercial banks.
To protest the lack of Naira notes, some market women in the state also took to the streets.
