INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, noted that the Electoral Act 2022 mandates the commission to issue certificates of return within 14 days to candidates who have been returned elected under the law. The presentation of certificates will take place in INEC offices in each state of the federation,
and specific dates for the issuance of certificates will be communicated to those elected by the Resident Electoral Commissioners and Administrative Secretaries of the various states. As of the time of the statement, the results of 26 of the 28 governorship elections had been announced, with the APC winning in 15 states, PDP in nine, LP in one, and NNPP winning in Kano. The elections in Kebbi and Adamawa were declared inconclusive.
