According to a statement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), certificates of return will be issued to newly elected governors, deputy governors, and State Assembly members from March 29 to March 31, 2023. INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, noted that the Electoral Act 2022 mandates the commission to issue certificates of return within 14 days to candidates who have been returned elected under the law. The presentation of certificates will take place in INEC offices in each state of the federation,

and specific dates for the issuance of certificates will be communicated to those elected by the Resident Electoral Commissioners and Administrative Secretaries of the various states. As of the time of the statement, the results of 26 of the 28 governorship elections had been announced, with the APC winning in 15 states, PDP in nine, LP in one, and NNPP winning in Kano. The elections in Kebbi and Adamawa were declared inconclusive.

According to a statement released on March 25 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, the Commission will issue certificates of return to newly elected governors, deputy governors-elect, and State Assembly members-elect from Wednesday, March 29, to Friday, March 31. This is in accordance with the provisions of Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandates the Commission to issue a certificate of return within 14 days to every candidate who has been returned elected under the law.
