On April 6, in Edo State, gunmen attacked a group of police officers on their way to their duty post, killing three officers and injuring another. The attack occurred between 5:30am and 6am near Agor Market along the Igarra-Auchi Road. The officers were traveling in a car with one of their colleagues on a motorbike behind them when they were ambushed. The attackers fled into the bush with four rifles belonging to the policemen. One of the assailants was killed, while another sustained gunshot wounds. The injured suspect was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and interrogation. Six rifles were recovered from the assailants. According to Ibukun Dogo, the head of the local vigilante group, they trailed the attackers through blood stains to their hideout, where they found two of them with gunshot injuries. One of the attackers died from the gunshot wounds, while the other was taken away by the police to the hospital. The police are yet to get the full details of the attack, according to the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor.
