The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has declared Friday, April 7 and Monday, April 10, 2023, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration. The announcement was made in Abuja, as stated in a press release signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Begore, on April 5. Aregbesola called on Christians to observe the values of sacrifice, unity, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience demonstrated by Jesus Christ during his ministry on earth. He also urged Nigerians to use this period to pray for an end to the security challenges in some parts of the country, stressing that everyone has a role to play in ensuring safety and security. The minister reassured Nigerians that the Federal Government is committed to a peaceful transition of government after the peaceful conduct of elections. Aregbesola wished Christians in Nigeria and the Diaspora a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration while encouraging everyone to show acts of kindness and generosity to their neighbors, especially to those in need.
