Driver Found Dead in Mechanics workshop.
A 43-year-old commercial bus driver, Kabiru Belli, has been found dead in a mechanic’s workshop at Ladylack bus stop, Shomolu area of Lagos on Saturday, police said.
The deceased, according to police homicide detectives from the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SIID), Yaba, committed suicide.

The police said some people who worked in the workshop at the time of the incident have been interrogated and that the detectives have ruled out any complicity in the death of the driver.
The spokesman of the police in the state, Bala Elkana, said on Saturday at about 12.56pm, Shomolu Pedro Police Station received information that one Kabiru Bello ‘m’ 43-yrs-old, of No 77 Owode Ibeshe, Ikorodu Lagos, allegedly drank a liquid substance suspected to be Snipper chemical in his Volkswagen commercial bus with registration number AKD 724 XM, while at a mechanic workshop at Ladylack Bus stop, Shomolu.
“The driver was rushed to Adesola Clinic, Shomolu where he was confirmed dead. Homicide detectives visited the scene. One empty bottle of chemical substances suspected to be Sniper was recovered. The corpse has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy,” he added.
In a related development, Elkana said police operatives also at the weekend recovered two single barrel guns from some fleeing gunmen in the metropolis.
Elkana said at about 9.30pm, Ilemba Hausa Police Station received a distress call that one Wale Lawal was dispossessed of his laptop by some armed robbers.
He said based on the information, a team of policemen deployed to the scene gave the hoodlums a chase and that the fleeing gunmen abandoned their black Honda vehicle with registration number Lagos KJA 705 BU.
“On the spot search was carried out on the vehicle and two locally made single barrel guns with 12 live cartridges, one laptop and one mobile phone were recovered in the vehicle. The vehicle was moved to the station for further investigation. Investigation is ongoing,” he said.
