NATO allies will step up and continue to support Ukraine, according to Jens Stoltenberg, the organization’s secretary general, on Monday, February 13.
On February 24, Russia invaded Ukraine, and in a few days, the conflict will mark its one-year anniversary.
President Putin is not putting peace preparations in place nearly a year after the invasion. At a news conference on Monday, February 13, Stoltenberg declared that he was beginning new offensives.
We must continue to provide Ukraine with what it needs to win and to achieve a just and sustainable peace,” he said, adding that Ukrainian defense minister Oleksii Reznikov will join the NATO meeting on Tuesday, and together they will ?address Ukraine?s urgent needs.
His remarks came ahead of the NATO military ministers’ gathering on February 14.
Due to the conflict in Ukraine and the possibility of harassment and arbitrary detention by Russian law enforcement, the United States has also instructed its people living in Russia to leave “immediately.”
Ahead of a meeting with allies on Tuesday in Ramstein, Germany, where parties will discuss defense talks centered on Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov spelled out his agenda as well.
The main issues on the agenda are:
-Protection of Ukrainian skies, including through the involvement of an aviation platform,
-Building a tank coalition,’
-Building a safety margin in terms of ammunition,
-Training programs for our soldiers,
Stability of support logistics, maintenance, repair, and practical implementation of the ‘Military Schengen.'”
-He said the Ukrainian delegation would work intensively with partners in the coming days. The pace is extremely high.
In conversations between allies and Ukrainian authorities in recent weeks, the prospect of the West supplying more weapons, particularly fighter jets to enhance Kyiv’s military power in the conflict, has taken center stage.
