Driver sentenced to death for killing FRSC official files appeal.
A driver, Usman Aliyu, has filed an appeal after being sentenced to death for killing a Federal Road Safety Corps Marshal Assistant (RMA III), Muhammad Babangida.
A state high court sitting in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, had, on October 4, 2018, sentenced Aliyu to death for crushing Babangida to death along Ahmadu Bello Way in the state capital on April 3, 2017.

The Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, in a terse text message to our correspondent, confirmed that the ruling was being appealed in Sokoto State.
Kazeem said, “The matter is on appeal at the Court of Appeal, Sokoto.”
The FRSC had said Aliyu, who drove a Black Toyota Corolla with the registration number KLG342AA on the day of the incident, had attempted to knock down a member of the corps’ patrol team, Abubakar Garba Abubakar.
When he could not knock Abubakar down, he was said to have “recklessly headed for the deceased and ensured that he crushed him to death as his first target.”
The accused was also reported to have fled the scene after killing his victim. However, he was arrested along Kalgo Road by the police after a tip-off.
