BASF Made Donations Of Treated Mosquito Nets To Boarding Students In Jigawa State.

The chief executive officer explained that it is also to complement the efforts of the state government and other partners for reducing the prevalence of malaria in the state and the nation in general, Jigawa state.

While presenting the mosquito nets, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BASF of the Country Cluster, West Africa, Dr Jean-Marc Ricca, said the aim is to protect the students from malaria while in school.

He said:

“I’m happy to present 800 number of ITNs to you as part of our contribution to prevent and curb prevalence of malaria; especially during this rainy season, where stagnant water and grasses are breeding mosquitoes is all over. We will also retrieve of old nets from the students to be recycled for other uses”.

And he also said that the mosquito-treated nets donation is not part of the main ITNs distribution to households in the state, but a new component of it called ‘End of Life’, under which old nets are retrieved from communities for recycling for a cleaner and healthier environment.
