WASSCE 2020: WAEC Clears Air On Leaked Question Papers

The West African Examination council (WAEC) has cleared itself on the rummour stating that Mathematics questions were leaked.

The WAEC Examinations kicked off on the 17th of August 2020 with Mathematics but has been rummoured to have gotten to few students before the exam day .

WAEC Nigeria through it’s official tweets Confirmed that there was no leakage of questions as it ensured safety before exams started.

They further explained that questions seen on social media were snapped by Supervisors who allowed illegal activities in the hall and WAEC is doing everything in its powers to get them apprehended.

The statement reads thus :

“There has been no leakage of any paper, whatsoever. Some have even gone ahead to misquote the head of the National Office of WAEC Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Areghan, as confirming the same.

“This is far from the truth and we take very strong exception to it.

“The council’s monitoring/investigations have revealed that some unscrupulous and unpatriotic supervisors/invigilators, and in some cases, candidates, snap the question papers (while the examination is in progress) and forward to their outside collaborators who in turn,

provide solutions to the questions which they send to their subscribers via criminally-inclined websites, SMS and WhatsApp, even as this is against our regulation of: use of cell phones in the examination hall is not allowed,”.
