A total sum of ₦30,090,730,004 to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) in the 2026 federal budget.
This was contained in the summary of the Appropriation law by detailing allocations to federal ministries, agencies and departments.
The amount covers personnel, overhead and capital projects, as applicable, for the three examination bodies.
Of the total allocation, NECO received the largest share of ₦16,930,016,632, representing 56.3 percent of the total, with ₦15,530,016,632 earmarked for personnel and ₦1,400,000,000 for capital projects, while no allocation was made for overhead costs.
WAEC will get the second-largest share, with a total allocation of ₦6,727,024,208, representing 22.4 per cent of the total. The allocation is divided between WAEC Local and WAEC International.
WAEC Local will receive ₦5,913,064,668 to cover personnel costs of ₦5,489,828,797, overhead costs of ₦214,054,880 and capital projects of ₦209,180,991.
WAEC International will receive a total allocation of ₦813,959,540, covering personnel costs of ₦515,095,934, overhead costs of ₦228,808,939 and capital projects of ₦70,054,667.
JAMB’s total allocation stands at ₦6,433,689,172, representing 21.4 percent of the total, covering personnel costs of ₦6,363,689,172 and capital projects of ₦70,000,000.
Interestingly, while WAEC received allocations for overhead costs, both NECO and JAMB had zero allocations for overhead expenses.
