Yaba, Lagos – August 7, 2025 — The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily suspended access to the 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates following the discovery of technical issues during an internal review.

In a press statement issued today, WAEC disclosed that the glitch affected the post-result release process, particularly in subjects like Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. The error reportedly arose during the implementation of a new paper serialization method—an innovation aimed at curbing examination malpractice.

“This process was carried out in line with best assessment practices,” the Council noted, emphasizing that the issue was not related to the marking itself but rather in the result release process.

The Council has urged all candidates to re-check their results after 24 hours, assuring the public that a resolution is underway.

“WAEC remains committed to excellence, fairness, and transparency,” said Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs, who signed the release.

Candidates who had previously viewed their results are advised to verify again after the fix is implemented. The Council also expressed sincere apologies to all affected students and their families, assuring them of urgent corrective measures.
