The Nigerian Senate Seeks Extention of Free Education scheme to Senior secondary school students.
A bill sponsored by Impo West Senatorial district spokes man Rochas Okorocha on free education scheme for Jss3 and ss3 students has passed first reading on the floor of the senate.
The Former Imo state Governor in the bill stated clearly that the bill would ensure that Nigerian children are able to access qualitative education up to senior secondary school level.
He noted that the Federal Government free education policy at the moment only captured those from primary to junior secondary school levels.
Okorocha described the proposed legislation, tagged: ‘Free Universal Education Act Amendment Bill’, as a people-oriented bill.
He expressed the hope that the bill would be given an accelerated hearing and subsequent assent by the executive.
Futhermore, Senator Rochas Okorocha has now been noted in the same statement as the only governor that pointed out the need for free educational system from 2011-2019
