Pastor who defiantly held service and said God is larger than covid-19, dies of it.An Virginia, U.S pastor has died of COVID-19, weeks after proudly showing off how packed his church was and vowing to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”
Bishop Gerald Glenn, founder and leader since 1995 of the New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Chesterfield, preached in church about the virus in March, before he became sick, encouraging people not to be afraid.
On March 22, five days after Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) had urged people to “avoid non-essential gatherings of more than 10 people,” Glenn told his congregation that “I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus…You can quote me anywhere.
I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a preacher — I talk to God!,” he said. ..On Sunday, his church announced that the pastor had died a week after being diagnosed with COVID-19. His wife, Marcietia Glenn, is also sick with the bug. Their daughter is now urging everyone to stay home. Watch video below
