My disengagement by Lagos govt saddest day of my life –Susan, polio survivor with two degrees.

Susan Ihuoma is the Secretary of the National Association of Persons Living with Physical Disabilities, Lagos Stage chapter. The graduate of Genetic Counselling from the University of Lagos tells ALEXANDER OKERE how she is trudging through life against all odds

I was born on June 13, 1978, and raised in the northern city of Kano, hundreds of kilometres from Imo, my state of origin. I speak Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, English and pidgin English. I was struck with polio at the age of three but I prefer to be called a polio survivor. I did not allow the condition to slow down my pace in life. Instead, I have used my disability to fire myself on to greatness, surmounting challenges at every point along the way.
